My first career was in nursing and I received my registration at Academisch Ziekenhuis Vrije Universiteit after which I worked at the Anesthesiology Department. To prepare for a second career, I studied Work and Organizational Psychology and after receiving my MSc, my first academic job was at the Department of Organization, Organizational Psychology, and Marketing of the Faculty of Economics and Econometrics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. After three years, I defended my doctoral thesis "Careers. A comparative Study Among Men and Women in a Service-Oriented Organization" (Promotor: Prof.dr P.A. Cornelis. Copromotor:Prof.dr G.J. Bamossy. Referents: Prof.dr P.J.D. Drenth en Prof.dr J.A.P. van Hoof).
